The Voice of Yoga TM
The Voice of Yoga was designed to teach singers, actors, teachers and public speakers to use the voice with an awareness of the whole person – physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically. This method combines the knowledge of contemporary vocal pedagogy with breathing techniques, postures and meditation from traditional yoga practices. During a workshop or session, students work with approachable asana (postures), breath work and meditation while making sound. This allows the students to connect on a deeper level to what ignites the voice and to connect sound to what the physical body is learning in the way of support, strength and grounding. The voice user learns to truly find their “voice.” This method builds strength, confidence and a sense of calm in high-stress situations (performance, auditions, interviews, public speaking, etc). These skills allow the practitioner to experience a deep connection to themselves and to those with whom they are interacting.
